What Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing & every entrepreneur should do?

“The World Bank and the Centre are working on expanding the coverage to include an analysis on 344 parameters as part of the Business Reform Action Plan for 2016.”
Times of India – 15th Oct 2015
Each state will be measured on ease of doing business on a 344 parameters. 344 is a whopping number. If there are 344 parameters which influence ease of doing business, imagine how difficult it is for the business to do business. Because even 10% parameters not made easy, ease of doing business goes for a toss.
First and foremost, this 344 number is mind boggling. Imagine if our fitness is measured on the basis of 100 parameters, becoming fit becomes a Herculean task.
But the detailing is good so as to not miss out on any parameters. I am sure they must have a grading and a weightage system, to give adequate importance to the major parameters.
This brings us to look inward, which we seldom look. What is the ease of doing business scorecard of your own company for your customers? This is very important.
Ease = More Business. Ease = Quick Business. Continue Reading...

One suicide, one tweet and ease of doing business

Real estate developers in Mumbai are facing the real crisis. Most of the developers are under heavy debt. Project approval delays are well-known. With some 28 plus approvals from various Govt. authorities, one can imagine the time it takes and money involved.
On top of this sluggish market since last few years and heavy overheads. It is survival at stakes situation for many of the small and mid-size developers. When the market can’t absorb the cost and cost is high, the company fails. Here it is a question of an entire industry. We have seen suicide by a well-known developer in Thane yesterday – courtesy; extraordinary delay in Govt. approvals and heavy debt. Read  more...

EASE - Competitive Advantage

They want us to punch various numbers before their very busy cell center executive talk to us. I fail to understand without knowing what customer wants they want their ATM PIN after account number. & then last 4 digit of card number.

Ask customer layers of authentication only if customer wants to do some secured transactions. Just to speak for common issues , reporting fraudulent transaction on credit card , retorting phishing or bug on their site.  Irrespective of what customer wants to talk to its a long and difficult proposition.

They have 4 pages of credit card bill but no place for customer care number or emergency action points in case of loss or fraudulent transactions.  Three pages are filled with advertisements which they want to act upon for more usage of card.

Companies these days become too technology and sales driven that they have forgotten very purpose of everything the do - serving customers with ease.

This is the case with most consumer companies. Customers are finding it difficult to deal with them.

Reaching them after sales , resolving problem with ease and with peace of mind has become extremely difficult. Companies that can achieve this  is going to be a winner.

India is 134 in ease of doing business in world ranking. We need to rank companies in ease of doing business with. Ease is very critical in offering delightful customer experience.

Name the company ____________ who qualifies for this status :
We are very easy to deal with.

SPEED UP – The only REFORM we want from Government

When we design customer experience , business processes r the most important thing after culture at the top and people.  Even that is true for Governments. Business and Governance processes are the most critical deterrents for offering delightful experience to customers/citizen. But when the matter is only of delight, we can ignore the same in favour of necessity, but when it has become necessity for development ,  economic growth and even for timely justice , we can neither ignore it nor remain inactive to live with that.  We can and must attack these procedures and processes which is delaying our - development, justice and everything in life.
Be it birth certificate,  death certificate, be it permission to start business or wind up the same,  be it permission to start construction or get conveyance of property, be it taking action by police for reported crimes, or admission in hospitals - everywhere delay  and follow up. Its consuming time of the nation enormously.
Recent global business survey held by World Bank puts India at 132 out of 185 nations for Ease of Doing business.
Why doing business should be so uneasy? Why dealing with government departments is so uneasy and horrible experience of every citizen? Dealing with corruption is one part, getting things done in time is the most critical challenge. These kind of unease breeds corruption.
Mr. Kejriwal is right when he says there has to be  a Citizen Charter which states within HOW many days the application for anything in any govt (state/central or local) department in any state will be disposed off. & it must be done that way. Period.
Delay is even costing our social behaviors. People know justice will be invariably delayed hence there is no fear of law.
Govt is hell bent on Retail FDI and delaying Parliament Sessions ,  HOW many bills r pending other than Retail FDI? I fail to understand why Govt thinks Retail FDI is the Mother of all reforms? So much so that Parliament sessions are being sacrificed.
We are living with Govt with misplaced priorities as far as economic reforms are concerned. Why improvement of Ease of Doing Business ranking from 132 to under 50 is not a MISSION of the Govt?
Multiple problems can be solved – speed of doing business will attract more investments, faster implementation of projects, faster economic and infrastructure development, lower corruption, lower crime (speedier trials r deterrent) , speedier alleviation of poverty, reduction of stress (today people are stressed as things are not moving and they want it to move faster)  - and finally even victory in election.
I am not sure what benefit people and  Govt will derive from Retail FDI but Governance process rejuvenation will certainly help citizen, govt and nation as a whole. It will be hugely better citizen experience. Just don’t do any reform till 2014 and focus only on this. People will thank the Govt ……..  and VOTE may be one of the way to thank!! Who is listening and thinking in Govt?
Share your experience about - delay in governance/business  process. How things can be improved?
